Las Tusas Ranch Wind Turbine

LasTusasTurbine

Above our new wind turbine housing rests on the VW rim and 2.5 inch pipe

I just had to take some pictures of the turbine housing all shiny like this,

because I hope we never need to grind this much metal away ever again.

LasTusasTurbine

Because the arc welder makes a lot of slag and frankly we are farm welders, “Not going to the State Fair,” Jack said

LasTusasTurbine

Yeah man, lots of grinding , sorry about that. I had to go to the eye doctor on Tuesday and get a piece of metal removed. Damn  grinder.

Nice shot of the stand and the various angles of the tail bearing bracket on the right, the spindle housing on the left, and the stator bracket( the pointy thing)

It was beginning to look like something. The turbine will sit on top of a pipe much like our stand is made from, when it is mounted forty five feet in the air. The turbine rotates on the smaller pipe

LasTusasTurbine

Ahhh, the first coat of fire engine red paint. Maybe this will help observers see the small turbine on top of the tower.

LasTusasTurbine

We were wondering if it was going to take two coats.

LasTusasTurbine

Yep, it needs a second coat.
