Total depravity – Wikipedia
The doctrine of total depravity (also called "total inability") asserts that, as a consequence of the fall of humanity into sin, every person born into the world is enslaved to the service of sin. People are not by nature inclined to love God with their whole heart, mind, or strength, but rather all are inclined to serve their own interests, over those of their neighbor, and to reject the rule of God. Thus, all people, by their own faculties, are morally unable to choose to follow God and be saved, because they are unwilling to do so out of the necessity of their own natures. (The term "total" in this context refers to sin affecting every part of a person, not that every person is as evil as possible.)
Jacob Arminius [An anti-Calvinist] himself and some of his later followers, such as John Wesley, also affirmed total depravity.
Total Depravity (Total Inability) – CRTA
Total Depravity is probably the most misunderstood tenet of Calvinism. When Calvinists speak of humans as "totally depraved," they are making an extensive, rather than an intensive statement. The effect of the fall upon man is that sin has extended to every part of his personality — his thinking, his emotions, and his will. Not necessarily that he is intensely sinful, but that sin has extended to his entire being.
The unregenerate (unsaved) man is dead in his sins (Romans 5:12). Without the power of the Holy Spirit, the natural man is blind and deaf to the message of the gospel (Mark 4:11f). This is why Total Depravity has also been called "Total Inability." The man without a knowledge of God will never come to this knowledge without God's making him alive through Christ (Ephesians 2:1-5).

As a Presbyterian, I know something about the Doctrine of Total Depravity. Total Depravity came into my mind as I began to read the subject article. In fact, it was forced into my mind.
Is it a valid concept? I can’t help but think that the term should apply to the majority of Americans [the people that I know]. I say that, because of their apparent indifference to our involvement in so many non-Christian activities: Primarily WAR, Aid to WAR, Empire Building; the Brutality, and indifference to Morality, that all this requires, and the importance of Pride and Greed in their lives.
As I said in a recent sermon: “A Species that has evolved being guided by the tenet of ‘Every man for himself’ and the principle of ‘The survival of the fittest’ is not by nature a benevolent species.
That is, the human is by nature, a selfish, egotistical, even brutal person. These traits are what got us this far. Isn’t this all that Total Depravity is saying?

The Fritzl case emerged in April 2008 when a 42-year-old woman, Elisabeth Fritzl (born 6 April 1966), stated to police in the town of Amstetten in Austria that she had been held captive for 24 years in a concealed part of the basement of the family home by her father, Josef Fritzl (born 9 April 1935), and that he had physically assaulted, sexually abused, and raped her numerous times during her imprisonment. The incestuous relationship forced upon her by her father had resulted in the birth of seven children and one miscarriage.
Three of the children had been imprisoned along with their mother for the whole of their lives: daughter Kerstin, aged 19, and sons Stefan, 18, and Felix, 5. One child, named Michael, had died of respiratory problems three days after birth, deprived of all medical help; his body was incinerated by Josef Fritzl on his property. The three other children were raised by Fritzl and his wife Rosemarie in the upstairs home. Fritzl had engineered the appearance of these children as foundlings discovered outside his house: Lisa at nine months in 1993, Monika at ten months in 1994, and Alexander at 15 months in 1997.
When the eldest daughter, Kerstin, became seriously ill, Josef acceded to Elisabeth's pleas to take her to a hospital, triggering a series of events that eventually led to discovery. Josef Fritzl was arrested on 26 April 2008, aged 73, on suspicion of serious crimes against family members and went on trial in Sankt Pölten, Austria on 16 March 2009.[1][2] He initially pleaded guilty to four of the six charges he faces, namely incest, rape, coercion and false imprisonment, but denied the other two charges of murder of the infant Michael and enslavement.[3][4]On the third day of the trial, he pleaded guilty to all six charges.[5] On 19 March, the fourth day of the trial, Josef Fritzl was sentenced to life imprisonment.[6]
This case reminded people of a similar case from the same neighborhood.
Natascha Kampusch (born 17 February 1988 in Vienna) is an Austrian television host mostly known for her abduction at the age of 10 on 2 March 1998. Natascha was held in a secret cellar by her kidnapper Wolfgang Priklopil for more than eight years, until she escaped on 23 August 2006. The media attention later led to her signing a contract with Austrian channel PULS 4 for her own talkshow. The show had its premiere on 1 June 2008.

Kampusch was raised by her mother Brigitta Sirny (née Kampusch) and her father Ludwig Koch, in Vienna, Austria. Her family included two adult sisters, and five nieces and nephews. Sirny and Koch separated while Kampusch was still a child. Kampusch spent time with both of them, and had returned to her mother's home from a holiday with Koch the day before her kidnapping.[1][2]

The 10-year-old Kampusch left her family's residence in Vienna's Donaustadt district on 2 March 1998 for school, but failed to arrive at school or come home. A 12-year-old witness reported having seen her being dragged into a white minibus by two men[3][4], although Kampusch did not report a second man being present.[5] A massive police effort followed, and 776 minivans were examined,[6][7] including that of Priklopil, who lived about half an hour from Vienna by car in the Lower Austrian town of Strasshof an der Nordbahn, near Gänserndorf. Although he stated that on the morning of the kidnapping he was alone at home, the police were satisfied with his explanation that he was using the minibus to transport rubble from the construction of his home.[8]
Speculations of child pornography rings or organ theft were offered,[9] and officials also investigated possible links to the crimes of the French serial killer Michel Fourniret.[10] Kampusch had carried her passport with her when she left (she had been on a family trip to Hungary a few days before) and the police extended the search abroad. Accusations against Kampusch's family complicated the issue even more;[11] there have even been (unsubstantiated) allegations that Natascha's mother was somehow involved in the abduction or its cover-up.[12]
Fourniret – On May 2004, just as Belgium magistrates were wrapping up the high-profile pedophile murder case involving the notorious Marc Dutroux, a new pedophile murder case garnered international attention. Belgian prosecutors revealed that French carpenter and known pedophile Michel Fourniret, 62, confessed to murdering six people. Fourniret claimed that his victims were not exclusively children but also included young women and a man.
On June 30 Expatica.com wrote, "Fourniret's confession came shortly after his wife Monique Olivier denounced her husband to police, saying he was responsible for nine murders in France and Belgium." The article further stated that Olivier came forward after seeing convicted pedophile Marc Dutroux's wife get sentenced to 30 years in prison for "trying to cover up her murderer husband's crimes."
At the time Fourniret confessed to the murders, he was already serving time in a Belgian jail for trying to abduct a 13-year-old Congolese girl. During his confession to police, he admitted to murdering Marie-Ascension Kirombo, 13, Elisabeth Brichet, 12, Natacha Danais, 13, Isabelle Laville, 17, Jeanne-Marie Desramault, 22, and Farida Hellegouache, age unknown. On July 1, 2004, Expatica.com wrote that Fourniret had denied the three other murders his wife claimed he committed, which included Celine Saison, 18, and Manyana Thumpong, 13, who disappeared respectively in the French Ardennes in May 2000 and in 2001 and were later found in unmarked graves. Another victim that Olivier claims her husband murdered although he denied it, is the couple's former au pair who remains unidentified but is believed to have been 16 and of Belgian origin. Olivier claimed that she "came home to find her husband and the babysitter naked and that he strangled the young girl to silence her."
About Marc Dutroux: "Something is rotten in the state of Belgium. Six years after the arrest of Marc Dutroux, the country's notorious paedophile, no date has been set for his trial and the case remains painfully unresolved. In 1995, when two eight-year-old girls were kidnapped, Dutroux, a convicted sex offender, was a prime suspect from the start, yet he wasn't arrested for 14 months. By that time, four of his captives – including the two girls – were dead. Since his arrest, 20 potential witnesses connected with the case have died in mysterious circumstances, fuelling suspicions of a cover-up reaching the highest levels. I have spent the last six months making a documentary about the investigation. Early on, I was told by one senior government adviser: 'You must not underestimate the terrible record of our Belgian justice system.' It's a system which today appears paralyzed, unable to prosecute the accused, his wife, and an alleged accomplice."
To the vast majority of Americans, the name Marc Dutroux doesn't mean much. Drop that name in Belgium though and you're likely to elicit some very visceral reactions. Dutroux – convicted along with his wife in 1989 for the rape and violent abuse of five young girls, the youngest of whom was just eleven – now stands accused of being a key player in an international child prostitution and pornography ring whose practices included kidnapping, rape, sadistic torture, and murder.
Dutroux was sentenced in 1989 to thirteen years for his crimes, but was freed after having served just three. This was in spite of the fact that, as prison governor Yvan Stuaert would later tell a parliamentary commission: “A medical report described him as a perverse psychopath, an explosive mix. He was an evident danger to society.”
The man who turned Dutroux loose on society, Justice Minister Melchior Wathelet, soon after received a prestigious appointment to serve as a judge at the European Court of Justice at The Hague. Shortly after Dutroux’s release, young girls began to disappear in the vicinity of some of his homes. Though technically unemployed and drawing welfare from the state, he nevertheless owned at least six houses and lived quite lavishly.
His rather lucrative income appears to have been derived from trading in child sex-slaves, child prostitution, and child pornography. Many of his houses appeared to stand vacant, though at least some of them were in fact used as torture and imprisonment centers where kidnapped girls were taken and held in underground dungeons.
HSR – Does the term ‘sick’ describe the people involved in these crimes, (and I consider the viewers as being involved), or is ‘total depravity’ a better term?
Some of Dutroux’s homes were used in this way for several years following his early release, with a growing body of evidence to indicate that fact to the police. True to form though, authorities failed to act on the information, or acted on it in a way that showed either complete incompetence (according to most press reports), or police complicity in the operation (according to any sort of logic).
Police seem to have routinely ignored tips that later proved to be accurate, including a report from Dutroux's own mother that her son was holding girls prisoner in one of his houses. In addition, key facts were withheld from investigators working on the disappearances and lines of communication were unaccountably broken, inexcusably hindering the investigation.
Police did search one of Dutroux's homes on no less than three separate occasions over the course of the investigation. On at least two of those occasions, two of the missing girls were being held in heinous conditions imprisoned in a custom-built dungeon in the basement. Nevertheless, the police searches came up empty, despite the fact that the investigating officers reported “hearing children’s voices on one occasion,” according to the Guardian.
It was not until August 13, 1996, four years after the disappearances began, that authorities arrested Dutroux, along with his wife (an elementary school teacher), a lodger, a policeman, and a man the Guardian described as “an associate with political connections” – elsewhere identified as Michel Lelievre.
Two days later, police again searched Dutroux's home and discovered the soundproof dungeon/torture center. As CNN reported, three years earlier “police ignored tips from an informant who said Dutroux was building secret cellars to hold girls before selling them abroad.” And in 1995, the same informant had told police that Dutroux had offered an unidentified third man “the equivalent of $3,000 to $5,000 to kidnap girls.”
Incredibly, it was later reported by the Guardian that police actually had in their possession a videotape of the dungeon being constructed: “Belgian police could have saved the lives of two children allegedly murdered by the paedophile Marc Dutroux if they had watched a video seized from his home which showed him building their hidden cell.” The tape had been seized in one of the earlier searches.
At the time of the final search, two fourteen-year-old girls were found imprisoned in the dungeon, chained and starving. They described to police being used as child prostitutes and in the production of child pornography videos. More than 300 such videos were taken into custody by the police.
On August 17, the story got grimmer as police dug up the bodies of two eight-year-old girls at another of Dutroux's homes. It would later be learned that the girls had been kept in one of Dutroux’s dungeons for nine months after their abductions, during which time they were repeatedly tortured and sexually assaulted, all captured on videotape. The girls were then left to slowly starve to death. Alongside of their decimated corpses was the body of Bernard Weinstein, a former accomplice of Dutroux who had occupied one of the houses for several years. Weinstein had been buried alive.
A few weeks later, two more girls were found buried under concrete at yet another of the Dutroux properties. By that time, ten people were reportedly in custody in connection to the case. Elsewhere in Belgium, the News Telegraph reported that: “The corpses of two women and parts of a third body have been discovered in a freezer at a Lebanese restaurant in Brussels.”
As the body count mounted, the outrage of the Belgian people grew. They demanded to know why this man, dubbed the 'Belgian Beast,' had been released after having served such an absurdly short sentence. And to know why, as evidence had continued to mount and girls had continued to disappear, the police had chosen to do nothing. How many girls, they demanded to know, had been killed as a result of this inaction?
Adding further fuel to the fire, as a Los Angeles Times report revealed, was that: “a highly regarded children’s activist, Marie-France Botte, claims that the Justice Ministry is sitting on a politically sensitive list of customers of pedophile videotapes.”
The same report noted that: “The affair has become further clouded by the discovery of a motorcycle that reportedly matches the description of one used in the 1991 assassination of prominent Belgian businessman and politician Andre Cools. Michel Bourlet, the head prosecutor on the pedophile case, meanwhile, has publicly declared that the investigation can be thoroughly pursued only without political interference. Several years ago, Bourlet was removed from the highly charged Cools case, which remains unsolved.”
A report in Time magazine alluded to murky links between the Dutroux operation and organized crime figures. Much later, Marc Verwilghen – the chief investigating magistrate on the case – would bluntly state: “For me, the Dutroux affair is a question of organised crime.” Also mentioned in the Time article was the use of secret “underground tunnels,” not unlike those described by children a decade earlier at the infamous McMartin Preschool.
(In December 1986, Judy Johnson, the chief witness for the prosecution in the McMartin case, , died of alcohol poisoning. Only then was it revealed that she had been a paranoid schizophrenic. In January 1997, defense attorneys learned that for 10 months prosecutor Lael Rubin and her assistants had not divulged that Johnson had accused the defendants of being witches, and had insisted to investigators that her son had been forced to drink blood from the chopped-open head of a baby and had been molested by a member of the Los Angeles Board of Education. Johnson's bizarre complaints continued from her first report of sexual abuse against her son in May 1983 to March 6, 1985, when it took the help of police to have her committed to a hospital for psychiatric examination. In the end, neither jury in either trial was told of Johnson's emotional problems.)
Outrage continued to grow, in the Dutroux case, as more arrests were made and evidence of high-level government and police complicity continued to emerge. One of Dutroux's accomplices, businessman Jean-Michel Nihoul, confessed to organizing an ‘orgy’ at a Belgian chateau that had been attended by government officials, a former European Commissioner, and a number of law enforcement officers. A Belgian senator would note, quite accurately, that such parties were part of a system “which operates to this day and is used to blackmail the highly placed people who take part.”
In September, twenty-three suspects – at least nine of whom were police officers – were detained and questioned about their possible complicity in the crimes and/or their negligence in investigating the case. As the Los Angeles Times noted in a very brief, two-sentence report, the detainments “were the latest indication that police in the southern city of Charleroi may have helped cover up the alleged crimes of Marc Dutroux.”
The arrests followed raids on the police officers’ homes and on the headquarters of the Charleroi police force and were based on information supplied by police inspector Georges Zicot, who had already been charged as an accomplice. Three magistrates had also reportedly been interrogated by police investigators.
Just days before the arrests, police had also arrested five suspects in the Cools assassination, including a former regional government minister named Alain VanderBiest. Strangely enough, the News Telegraph reported that: “Police investigating the Cools murder in 1991 … have been given helpful leads by some of those arrested in the Dutroux case.” The Telegraph also noted that Cools “had promised ‘shocking revelations’ before his death.”
On October 14 came the straw that broke the camel's back: Jean-Marc Connerotte, who had been serving as the investigating judge on the case, was dismissed by the Belgian Supreme Court. Connerotte was viewed by the people as something of a rarity: a public official/law enforcement officer who actually appeared to be pursuing a prosecution, rather than a cover-up. The News Telegraph described him as: “the only figure in the judiciary who enjoys the nation’s confidence.”

Rome, Italy — Italian and Russian police, working together, broke up a ring of Jewish gangsters who had been involved in the manufacture of child rape and snuff pornography.
Three Russian Jews and eight Italian Jews were arrested after police discovered they had been kidnapping non-Jewish children between the ages of two and five years old from Russian orphanages, raping the children, and then murdering them on film. Mostly non-Jewish customers, including 1700 nationwide, 600 in Italy, and unknown number in the United States, paid as much as $20,000 per film to watch little children being raped and murdered.
Jewish officials in a major Italian news agency tried to cover the story up, but were circumvented by Italian news reporters, who broadcasts scenes from the films live at prime time on Italian television to more than 11 million Italian viewers. Jewish officials then fired the executives responsible, claiming they were spreading "blood libel."
Throughout history, various groups have accused sects of Jews of ritually murdering small children. One such account, that of Hugh of Lincoln, led to the expulsion of all Jews from Britain in the 13th Century. Such accounts have generally been discounted, but are so wide spread that Jewish organizations have developed a name for them — "blood libel".
British link to 'snuff' videos

Britain is a key link in the biggest ever international investigation into the production and supply of paedophile 'snuff' movies – in which children are murdered on film – an Observer investigation can reveal.
The key suspect in the inquiry, a Russian who was arrested last week in Moscow for distribution of thousands of sadistic child porn videos and pictures, was traced following the seizure of his products from British paedophiles.
Dmitri Vladimirovich Kuznetsov, a 30-year-old former car mechanic in Moscow, was identified after British Customs and police traced the origin of violent child porn videos found in the UK back to Russia.
Last week Italian police seized 3,000 of Kuznetsov's videos on their way to clients in Italy, sparking an international hunt for paedophiles who have bought his products. The Italian investigators say the material includes footage of children dying during abuse. Prosecutors in Naples are considering charging those who have bought the videos with complicity in murder. They say some may have specifically requested films of killings.
British authorities yesterday confirmed that scores of Kuznetsov's videos, produced in his small flat in Moscow's rundown Vykhino district, have been found in the UK. They are concerned that 'snuff' movies in which children are killed may have also been imported.
Around a dozen British men have already been arrested and charged with offences alleged to be connected to the Russian tapes. A second Russian child porn ring, which allegedly had a British distributor, was broken up earlier this year. The investigation into the importing of violent Russian child porn which led to the identification and subsequent imprisonment of Kuznetsov started about 15 months ago after Customs seized material coming into the country. Since then there have been dozens of other finds.
'We have seen some very, very nasty stuff involving sadistic abuse of very young children, but actual deaths on film takes it a whole step further. That is very worrying,' said one senior customs officer this weekend.
British paedophiles were paying between £50 and £100 for Kuznetsov's tapes, the officer said. Further fees were paid for access to a website that features pictures of extremely violent abuse.
Though two men arrested with Kuznetsov have also been imprisoned by Moscow authorities, only one of the three remains behind bars. Dmitri Ivanov was sentenced to 11 years for actually participating in the abuse that was being filmed. The others were released under an amnesty aimed at clearing Russia's overcrowded prisons.
When officers from the Moscow Criminal Investigation Department raided Kuznetsov's flat they found two boys in a makeshift studio. They seized a huge quantity of films and other pornographic material as well as lists of clients in Italy, Germany, America, and Britain.
Last week Italian detectives moved in, following months of inquiries, and arrested eight people. The police searched more than 600 homes and say they now have evidence against about 500 people. Among the suspects were businessmen, public employees and a university student. Several of them were married, with children of their own. Hundreds of people are also under investigation in Germany.
The Russian videos, which had been ordered over the internet, were intercepted when they came into Italy by post, repackaged, and then delivered by undercover police officers. They cost between £300 and £4,000, depending on what type of film was ordered.
Covert film of young children naked or undressing was known as a 'SNIPE' video. The most appalling category was code-named 'Necros Pedo' in which children were raped and tortured until they died.

ROME (Reuters) – An Italian prosecutor has charged 1,491 Italians and foreign nationals with offering or downloading child pornography on the Internet in what could become one of the biggest trials in Italy, newspapers said on Saturday.
Prosecutor Alfredo Ormanni has ordered 831 Italians to stand trial and has called for 660 foreigners to be tracked down and sent to Italy to answer the charges.
The child pornography case is focused around a pedophile ring based in Russia uncovered a month ago.
It was not immediately clear if extradition requests or international arrest warrants had been issued for those accused outside Italy and believed to be mainly in Russia, France, and Malaysia, the papers said.
The huge number of people were trapped in a complex exercise involving a fake pedophile Internet Web site set up by Italian authorities, police and the world's biggest software company, Microsoft.
The site, called “amantideibambini'' (''loversofchildren''), registered 1,032 subscribers despite a number of clear warnings to make sure they wanted to enter it.
A number of those charged, none of them Italian, have been accused of offering pornographic material over the Internet. The vast majority face charges of downloading child pornography.
The charges were made exactly a month after the pedophile scandal erupted in Italy following a swoop on 600 homes in the country. Eight people were initially arrested in Italy on charges of possessing and trading in child pornography, all of it from Russia.

Snuff films are films of actual murders and suicides. These may, or may not, involve explicit sex. Rape, torture and mutilation of fourteen year old girls appears to be the staple of the snuff film industry. This is not a feminist or socialist issue. Any man with human respect for women should be outraged!
Personal Opinion: The snuff “entertainment” industry is equal to the $50 billion pornography industry. US law enforcement has never submitted a snuff film as evidence. This subject is depressing. Any decent human being would chose to ignore it. That is why the snuff movie industry flourishes.

Hollywood has recognized the snuff trade. The 1979 film, Hardcore, starred George C Scott. His character paid $100 to view a snuff film in Tijuana, Mexico. 8MM, released in 1999, was another Hollywood production about Tijuana’s snuff film industry. Tesis Thesis was also released in 1999.
This writer was the intended “star” of several snuff film attempts. This writer knows that corrupt law enforcement, corporations, and government will always cover-up the snuff film industry and the money laundering that results from the profits. The participants have the advantage of incredibility.
US citizens are not immune to being the victims of snuff films. This writer has had years of personal contact with people involved in the snuff film industry and its money laundering schemes. They have repeatedly attempted to make me a party to their activities. I am very familiar with the Yogurt Shop Murders. These murders occurred on December 6, 1991, in North Austin, Texas. The Yogurt Shop Murders were a part of a snuff film.
Four exceptionally attractive teenage girls were raped, tortured, mutilated, and murdered. Instead of fleeing the scene of the crime, the killers were in the store for nearly an hour. A snuff film of this event would command an exceptional price! The financial community has a vested interest in covering up the snuff film industry. The money laundering method is not recognized by the finance industry, law enforcement, or government! Removing billions of dollars from circulation would create economic havoc. The money must be re-circulated into the mainstream economy.
The Yogurt Shop Murders were the culmination of a five-year spree of similar blatant murders in Texas and New Mexico, ending in 1991. The Juarez Femicide began in 1993. This indicates that some of the same perpetrators may be involved. The publicity of the Yogurt Shop Murders case may have inspired the perpetrators to relocate their operations in Mexico. The Guatemala femicide began about 2000, when the Juarez murders began receiving more widespread attention. This writer expects the snuff operation will seek out new, unnoticed, areas of the world for its productions.
There will never be justice from the police or government. It appears to this writer that corrupt law enforcement controls the snuff movie trade. The cash from snuff films supports a huge network of corruption. If an honest street cop wants to “go public”, his superiors will make certain the public never knows. They know that this crime is too evil for most people to believe. Only exposure by the public will stop it.
The only logical explanation for the Juarez and Guatemala murders is very valuable snuff films. Why else would corporations, government, and police cooperate to hide the truth, or to cause these murders? The press and even people and organizations which act as if they want to help, are suspect. The amount of money made in snuff movies can corrupt almost anyone. It will take a courageous, selfless minority to tell the world.
The pornography industry is being used as a basis of comparison in this article. There is no comparison for the evil of the snuff film industry. Despite unlimited hours of explicit pornography available, more is produced every day. That applies to the snuff film industry as well. Everyone involved is affected. This includes the multitudes of participants in the snuff money laundering schemes. Mainstream pornography is not supported by the leaders of our society. It appears to this writer that the leaders of our society do covertly support the snuff movie industry cover-up.
“If the shoe fits, wear it.” Snuff films are the only rational explanation for the femicide in Mexico and Guatemala.
The only way to restrain the snuff film trade is through testimonies like this one. With exposure, more amateurs will attempt to enter the trade. This will create more exposure, forcing law enforcement to do its job of protecting honest citizens from being murdered!

MONTREAL – Calling human trafficking one of the greatest human rights abuses of our time, Canadian journalist and social activist Victor Malarek addressed the Jewish community at a Montreal synagogue last Thursday.
Promoting a book he has written on the subject, Malarek said destitute Third World and Eastern European females as young as 12 are tricked into leaving their homelands with promises of wealth and prosperity in the West, as well as Israel. Instead, they are sold into the sex trade by organized crime, gangs, pimps, and brothel owners.
"Newspaper ads from modeling and employment agencies promise exciting jobs, but the women are duped," Malarek told the Jewish Tribune. "They must submit, or they are raped, beaten and tortured. There are between 5,000 and 10,000 trafficked women in Israel and more than 280 brothels in Tel Aviv alone. It is a human rights issue the Jewish community knows about. They have a voice and they must use it."
The United Nations has cited human trafficking as an international crime generating more than US $12 billion worldwide. More than 800,000 people are trafficked annually, forced into prostitution and threatened with death should they attempt to escape the clutches of their captors. Canada is both a means of access to the United States, as well as a final destination for approximately 2,000 women each year.
"Governments should be held accountable," said Liberal MP Irwin Cotler, who also addressed the crowd. "It is a very serious problem in Israel, and Canada has been inadequate in the protection of victims of trafficking. It is a global slave trade."
Enter: Albuquerque west mesa murders – Mar 1, 09 – Albuquerque police said they are looking into several possible suspects who may be responsible for the bodies buried on the West Mesa.
As searchers discovered the 13th body Friday at the site near Dennis Chavez and 118th Street, investigators said they are still unwilling to say a serial killer is responsible.
However, police also say a single person may have disposed of all the bodies they've found on the mesa.
One person police are looking at could be Lorenzo Montoya, a man killed in 2006–the same time prostitutes stopped vanishing from the streets of the Duke City.
Even back then, police said Montoya could be responsible for multiple murders.
Montoya drew the attention of police in December 2006 in what police call one of the most bizarre crimes most of them had seen.
The 39-year-old Montoya had taken a stripper to his West Side mobile home to dance for him. What Montoya didn't know is that the dancer, 19-year-old Shericka Hill, had her boyfriend waiting outside.
After an hour, the boyfriend, 18-year-old Federick Williams went to check on Hill.
Williams and Montoya then confronted each other with guns and Montoya was shot dead. Williams then found Hill dead inside the mobile home.
Police said Montoya had tied Hill up with a rope made out of duct tape. Investigators said the way the rope was made suggested Montoya had done it before.
Another reason Montoya is getting attention is how close he lived to the dig site–about two miles.
Back in 2006, there were dirt trails that led directly from Montoya's mobile home park to the dig site.
Police are careful not to say the person responsible for the recovered bodies is dead, but APD is also confident a serial killer is not on the streets of Albuquerque.
"What we are finding is that all these remains are old," APD Chief Ray Schultz said. "They have been there for a number of years now. Had we been finding fresh bodies that had been placed out on the mesa in past days or weeks, then I'd be a lot more concerned."
Police are also looking at other suspects, including a well-known pimp who died a month ago. He had pictures of missing prostitutes in his home.
Co-workers suspect man in Mesa body mystery
He was killed after strangling a prostitute to death. Now, the man's co-workers say they think he was behind the bodies buried on the West Mesa.
Lorenzo Montoya lived 1.7 miles away from the dig site where 13 bodies have been found in southwest Albuquerque.
Co-workers said the man had a hatred for women and even joked about burying them on the mesa.
As crews continue to look for more bodies on the mesa, the question of who put them there still remains.
APD Chief Ray Schultz said the bodies were likely buried between 2001 and 2006. Since Montoya died in 2006, the number of missing prostitutes in Albuquerque has dropped dramatically.
In 2006, Montoya tied up and murdered a 19-year-old prostitute in his mobile home. The woman's boyfriend confronted Montoya at the mobile home and shot him to death. The man soon after found his girlfriend dead inside.
Ann Farmer, who worked with Montoya at Sunrise Printing, says Montoya acted "very meticulous" and "macho."
Farmer said she often worked in close quarters with the man.
"It was scary because I used to work with him and I went places with him just in the van we had to do deliveries and I was alone with him," she said.
In 1999, police said they caught Montoya raping and choking a prostitute in his truck after he picked her up on Central Avenue.
In the police report, the prostitute said Montoya choked her so hard "she couldn't breathe and thought the man was going to kill her."
When Montoya's co-workers found out about the prostitutes found buried on the West Mesa, one thing came to mind.
"When we heard about what happened the first thing everyone said was, I bet you anything it was Lorenzo," Farmer said.
Other co-workers said Montoya was a loner who often ate his lunch in the bathroom and talked about his hatred of women.
Farmer said other people who knew Montoya heard him say strange things like "he'd just as soon take them out to the mesa and bury them."
Police aren't calling Montoya a suspect, but they have looked into past cases involving him.

Albuquerque, NM (AHN) – Investigators have found three more bodies and a fetus in a vacant New Mexico property where six bodies were unearthed earlier this month.
Two bodies were discovered on Saturday while the remains of a pregnant woman was discovered on Monday, Albuquerque police spokesman John Walsh said. The bones have been sent to the New Mexico Office of the Medical Investigator for analysis.
Police, deputies from the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office, FBI agents, anthropologists, archaeologists and students or professors from the University of New Mexico have been digging up in the 92-acre land west of Albuquerque since a woman walking her dog discovered the graves two-and-a-half weeks ago, said Nadine Hamby of the Albuquerque Police Department.
Of the earlier remains found, only one was identified, a prostitute and drug user named Victoria Chavez, who has been missing since 2003. Investigators do not know yet how the victims died and how their bodies ended up in the vacant land being prepared for development.
What is behind the west-mesa murders?
I think there are just too many to be explained as the work of one person. To me, it looks suspiciously like the Dutroux case. I suspect that these women have been kidnapped, sexually abused, and tortured to death, all of which was captured in vivid color, with surround sound, in the manufacture of snuff movies, for which there appears to be a huge international market. These movies sell for anywhere from $1000 – to $10,000 per copy. They are so common that there are terms for the product: “necros pedo”, and for the movie “snuff movie”.
My term, Calvin’s term, is ‘total depravity’. It applies, not to just a few people – to millions of people.
