Chap 4.  What is Evil?

The sermon, What Evil Has He Done, illustrates how one can use bible stories to build up a fairly modern concept.

This sermon from 1982, would be revised a little if used today.  For one thing the Pastoral Prayer would be in modern English – not in Elizabethan English.

In the comments, there is a hint of criticism of the Doctrine of the Atonement.  Most modern preachers soft-pedal that doctrine anyway, but to outright condemn it is a little risky.

Even in 1982, the liberal bias of the author can be seen.  Notice that in the previous sermon, Satan Shall Have You, the perpetrators of the crucifixion are described as the tools of Satan.

Since the whole concept of God is centered on the concept that there is Good and Evil in the World, we must introduce early in our discussions our definition of Evil, and conversely, what Good must be, and how we must seek to attain it.
