July-31st2012-8th-anniversary-B&N-kiss
Good morning and happy anniversary my sweet Barbara Nell Rodgers
Eight years! Plus the eight years we were together before that. Wait what? "No wonder we're so old," I said to my wife this morning. Just kidding around. She came home from another grueling ten hour day to a clean house, such as it is while under construction, I served shrimp, with cocktail sauce, steamed artichoke, diced water melon and honeydew.
We are happy
July-31st2012-8th-anniversary-B&N2 We like each other, that's the key, in case you didn't already know
July-31st2012-8th-anniversary-B&N Sixteen wonderful years, no wonder we look so damn good.
July-31st2012-8th-anniversary-sunrise I didn't capture the light the way it looked. Sorry about that. We got up early, and made cookies, amongst other things. Dark chocolate chips, pecans, raisins, corn meal, bran, unbleached flower, honey, butter. Kind of difficult to type with one hand and a cookie in the other, but hell yeah, yummy
July-31st2012-8th-anniversary. The little cloud in the middle was bursting with brilliance, I took three pictures, none really showed it, oh well. I felt a few drops, thought about taking the clothes off the line, nah.
July31st2012-living-room I've got to get to an optometrist, my eyesight is rapidly declining. I can barely make out what I took pictures of.
I can tell you what I would be doing today had Desertgate not called and asked that I work today, instead of Thursday: That pile of wood is for a wall where the entertainment system used to be; by the pink wall.
I did get the wall above temporarily supported enabling the removal of the last bits of rotten wood.
July31st2012-Freeze-proof. I got so very much accomplished yesterday. After the little hike to the river with the dogs, we stopped at Jack's to check out the septic tank project. He needed to go to town too, so after I made all the measurements for the immediate plumbing and carpentry projects, and unloaded the demolition debris from the little trailer, Jack and I headed for town.
Anything with my brother is an adventure, nevertheless we got our chores over with fairly quick and were back home by 2:00 PM. I was about to take a break when Eric from Desertgate called asking if I could switch out days. Crap, I hated to cut my time here short, but they have been very good to me.
On went my game face. It was now 2:30 PM I had exchanged the too short freeze proof faucet for a longer and cheaper one. Plus I bought a bigger paddle drill bit so the plumbing would fit through the wall and beams. Shear determination and that cut short time frame had me hustling.
I chucked out the crappy Teflon plumbers tape and went out the the bioshed and retrieved the good stuff, which made putting the pipes together quick and easy, not to mention leak free on the first try.
I even had time afterward to install one of the old shelf boards for a cat ramp. Our two cats are old, and one in particular has a hard time getting up to the cat feeding shelf above the washer.
Three loads of laundry tested the plumbing; the water is moving too slow through the washing machine, I'll need to clean the screens for the washer water supply I suppose. I kind of blew through them as I put the hoses back on. I guess I was a bit anxious to get on with the show.
July31th2012plumbing For the umpteenth time I had to rebuild the portable swamp cooler. We'd throw it out and buy a new one, what with this killer heat wave, but that isn't an option, as all our dough is going toward the kitchen & bath remodel, which we're proud to say is still on schedule and within budget.
Truth is that some sizable expenses are close at hand, so we'll need to be frugal with everything else.
I'm currently thinking I'd make my own concrete, starting with the bath room floor.
I wish my buddy Dave was here.
Catch y'all after a while. I think I have time for a quick hike
