Sheesh 7:12 AM
Good Morning
Perhaps I ought to begin with "Boy Howdy!" One dog wanted out at 1:00AM. I'm pretty certain I had just gone to bed at 12:30.
I'm guessing that the higher level of comfort Clara's house provides is changing my sleep habits.
When I think I can get used to this, Sandy, (Clara's puppy I should add) starts barking, nearly waking me at an hour I am normally awake and working on this newsletter.
Uncharacteristically, I yelled for Sandy to quit barking and turned over and went back to sleep.
The reward for my bad behavior (which any half awake person might guess at) was stepping closed eyed in a nice warm pile of puppy doodoo in front of the bathroom door.
Honestly, that didn't really bother me. I stood there in front of the toilet peeing with one foot up like some deranged stork.
Thank goodness I had my slippers half on. I hopped into the kitchen discarding the offending slipper at the back door.
Once I had a cup of yesterday's coffee in the microwave, blinking repeatedly trying to get the slumber from my head, I went out to the mud room, yeah a mud room, I love this house, grabbed a new roll of paper towels and returned to the scene of the accident. Sigh. That's all done. Now I can get back to doing what I normally do in the morning; writing and getting my head together.
It really is quite odd that all these things aren't disturbing me. I'm pretty sure I know what's happening. If you read me regularly you are already aware that my like is in utter turmoil of late. I spent my day yesterday caring for Nell and then Clara's house. This isn't hard work and it is rewarding. It isn't the same kind of rewarding as one of my own projects. Nevertheless it is satisfying. Nell is getting better, thank goodness for that. She worked all day while I puttered around the house cleaning and fixing little things like the front door which hasn't closed completely for years.
Also I played with my new Smart Phone. I even texted Brittany. Man does that make an old guy feel young? Yes. Today will be the first day I use the phone for work. I can't wait. I'll try and find time to buy a holder of some kind to keep the phone from falling out of my pocket like the old one did every time I leaned over to drill something.
So yes, with all the trauma and drama, we're miraculously doing really well.
I'll leave this newsletter on that positive note and see if I can't get to work on-time for a change
Sincerely,
Brian Rodgers
