Good Morning
Too Tired to Type? No!
Here we go. See? The camera shows that May 29th was indeed Saturday, cause here we are in the Central Meadow watching and listening to Unstrung Heros while enjoying a beautiful sunny day, with friends and family.
Yes, there is still much to do, always is after Tusas, but like most of us, I have to go to work today, We got the Camp cleaned up for the most part. Still a lot of Camp kitchen cleaning needs doing.
Once the post-Tusas numbness goes away, I'm sure we'll feel much better. Nell already left for work, I don't need to leave for a couple of hours, but I do need to clean Tusas out of my Isuzu Trooper, and that ought to be a good trick. It's odd how we go though the routine of our old existence after Tusas, thinking to ourselves, "Need we explain what just happened to us to the straights?" Surely we must look different to outsiders. Even after showers, clean clothes, and food which wasn't smoked in one way on another, we must have an air about us. Not the same noticeably but perhaps to the untrained eye we look like pilgrims just off a year-long self enlightening experience, trudging down the steep mountain trail back to civilization once again, mostly back in our bodies.
The hope is that we can perform the mundane tasks of our workday-lives with at the very least a facsimile of deftness until we get a few more good nights sleep. I mean I work on a ladder earning a living, sheesh.
Alrighty then, below we have a picture of the Camp Kitchen from the south-east side. Not visible are the BBQ, horno, and 28 cup coffee pot. Campers everywhere though. We collected $300 at the gate just up the hill Saturday from 12:00 noon till about 3:00PM. People were still pouring-in apparently becasue by dark there were hundreds of tents.
We had a lot of games: horseshoes, checkers, chess, and cards, the kickballs, sadly three of them never lasted very long with all the dogs. We all had hoped people would control their dogs better.
Luckily there were no bad dogs, they all played well together.
Austin's Hula hoops were a huge success as always. Hopefully someone got video of people hooping, because it was really fun to watch.
The canned music was flawless this year, sadly our DJ was sick so we missed Eric and Rowyn spinning records for us this year. I don't know if you recall when I mentioned that I was going to try out an additional set of super sub-woofers in tandem with the regular Tusas speakers. They sounded fantastic, lots of bass this year. Yep, the music was wonderful, with a tinge of typical Tusas-blown-speaker tone happening, Austin said.
Sounds and power worked very well all weekend long, with the only freaky thing which occurred, first for me, then subsequently to others, only I was apparently the only one to figure it out, when the battery voltage dropped below 8volts the 300 watt amp wouldn't put out sound. The solution was to start the generator and run the 50 amp battery charger. Lessons I have learned about renewable energy and power generation gave me an advantage in that I had a pretty good idea how long we might be able to run the 110 volt inverter and a stage full of lighting effects, albeit all low power LEDs. When the batteries went dead I also had a pretty good idea how long it would take at fifty amps into six 110 AH batteries to give them a good charge, usually a lot longer that anyone let the generator run.
I am so grateful that I had the good sense to remain sober throughout this event, it was a blessing, I had no idea how much more fun this party could be without alcohol. Thank you everyone who helped and encouraged me, I hope I was a shining example I think I was.
A couple of fireside images. This is the fire by the horno, it was always magnificent.
Poor focus, sorry. Although every once in a while our old camera works well, usually in daylight better. Toast and Ally on the end of the bench.
Maybe being out of focus is right for this. Although you may notice a peculiarity in the these fireside images, nobody has alcohol, I felt really great about this.
